Buenos Aires, the River Plate´s Perl, is one of the uttermost interesting cities in Latin America. It was first founded in 1536 as a fortress, but later abandoned due to indian hostilities. Was refounded in 1580 by Juan de Garay, this time as a town. People are mainly descendants of Spaniards and Italian, but important communities of jews, polish, french, english, japanese, german make this great city very cosmopolitan. There is an English newspaper and also a German one. |

In Argentina´s golden age, beautiful buildings were made, most in European styles, and many in French styles; this is particularly remarkable in Recoleta neigbourhood. The river Plate is 200km. broad, and it was so named considering it the pathway to the gold and plate of Peru´s Incas, and there came through many misfortuned Spanish expeditions. Buenos Aires has the charm of its cafés, theatres, (take a look at the Colón Theatre), cinemas, shopping, and the warmth of its people. If you get acquainted with somebody it is not strange to be invited to his house or activities. It is easy to integrate yourself... |

| But...beware of pick, pocket robbery in the streets!!....we are no exception to any big city. Take special care in places where many tourists usually walk or gather. Try not to act like a tourist. Our music is tango, but also Folk music, which comes from the provinces. It sounds different depending on its origin. And there are so many excellent rock bands here!!!... The vast melting pot which is Buenos Aires has a lively allure. Take a guided visit to the most interesting places. |
